Non-load bearing wall
Non-load bearing walls are not required for the stability of a building. However, they must be able to carry their own weight and to transfer lateral loads (e.g. wind loads) to load bearing structural elements. Generally, a distinction is made between non-load bearing outside walls, as gable walls with masonry infill, and non-load bearing inside walls, as partition walls. Non-load bearing walls can be installed, removed or changed optionally.
