Lightweight concrete

The term lightweight concrete refers to the specific weight which is below 2 kg/dm³ (for comparison: normal concrete ≈ 2,4 kg/dm³, heavy concrete > 2,6 kg/dm³). As aggregates are used e.g. perlite, gas concrete, styrofoam, expanded shale, foamed slag, lava slag. Hence lightweight concrete is an ideal construction material in the case of higher thermal insulation requirements as well as lower rated loads for load-bearing structural elements.
